Skype or Vonage and why?

I currently use Vonage, but I'm debating switching to Skype. I don't know much about how Skype works yet, but I do hope that it will still let me use a traditional phone in my house.

My reason for switching: For the second time in 4-6 months, Vonage is telling me that my VOIP router is defective and needs to be replaced. They were so kind to offer a $40 credit to replace my $99 router. Incidentally, all this occurred at the same time I setup my new TC, so I automatically blamed my new TC, since it had initially given me some other networking headaches.

If your router is less than a year old and they don't give you a warranty against it breaking, then you're getting ripped off anyway. Personally I wouldn't tolerate it, and would look elsewhere for service.

I've had Vonage for a few years, and never had any troubles with my Linksys router.

Update:

Spoke with Vonage again about my problem. I guess it all depends on who you get on the phone. They overnighted me a new device (which is actually very slick, and apologized for my inconveniences.

I'm still open to better phone service suggestions, if anyone has any...

I was with Vonage, but I found it too expensive.

I switched to ViaTalk, which offers 2 years for $ 199, with free equipment.

Works great, go beat that price, Vonage.
