Mac Mini, running 10.3 can not access the machines running 10.4 and 10.5, however, they can access the mini running 10.3

The mac mini running 10.3 can not share the printer to the laptop running 10.5

I would think that the different versions of the different services might be a issue...

That is what I was thinking as well.

Does anyone know for sure what the problem may be? Are there issues trying to network in a multi OS environment like this one?

Dunno.

10.4 to 10.5 is not a problem for me

What "access" are you trying ? SSL ? AFS ? Web Sharing ? Internet Sharing ?

I think you need to examine your setup. I have an iMac G3 with 10.3 that accesses an iMac G5 with 10.4 and also a C2D Intel Mac laptop running 10.4. The iMac G3 (10.3) has the printer in its USB port and we print to it from all these computers through sharing its printer (printer sharing). The iMac G5 and the Intel Mac laptop access the G3 wirelessly and also vice versa, via "connect to server."

For your printer, I found that all three computers must have the same version of the printer driver installed. I downloaded that from the Canon website.

I don't have experience with 10.5 but can attest that 10.3 and 10.4 Macs can indeed access one another in each direction and share a printer.

iMac G5 2GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, 10.5.8
Macbook Air Core 2 Duo 4 Gig RAM, 10.6.8

How are you trying to connect to the 10.4 and 10.5 machines?

Right now, I am trying to get the printer sharing working, the printer is connected to a mac running 10.3, it is installed and can print from the computer it is connected to. It is also shared in printer sharing, but is not showing up on the network on the 10.5 machine, and at the moment, the 10.4 machine.

What am I forgetting?

What network hardware are you using? Two routers by chance?

I was helping someone out with this and thought of that. They are using only one.

The interesting thing is this, when we plugged the printer into either the Tiger or Leopard machines, the printer became available to the entire network, even the 10.3 machines. To solve the problem, I think it would just be easier to upgrade the 10.3 machines to 10.4 and call it a day.

Anyone know where I can get 10.4 for cheap?

You could try posting a WTB notice in our forum Marketplace.

You might call the Apple Store 1-800 number to see if they have it. It's not posted online.
