Is that a way that I can create different read/write permissions for different users on the network?

Macbook 1 and Macbook 2

I want to be able to share them both with each other.

Macbook 1 can read/write to macbook 2, but macbook 2 can only read macbook 1. (i have this working)

But the permissions currently are that ANY user can read/write to macbook 2, i only want macbook 1 to write, and anything else on the network to read only.

If you have Leopard and go to File Sharing prefs, you can set read/write permissions by user, by folder.

If you want to create a user to be used for file sharing, creating a new user called macbook2 would be the first step. After that, go to File Sharing prefs (under Sharing in System Prefs); add the folder(s) you want to share (if they're not already there); then select macbook2; then assign its permissions for the folder(s).
