i know theres gotta be a good howto out there. on how to set up an FTP server on my home machine so the outside world can access certain files of mine...anyone wana link me one?

i do not have a static IP address, and am using airport gigbit extreme router with a motorola cablevsion modem.

The sharing preference pane is a good place to start... of course you're also going to need a dynamic dns service unless you want to keep sending clients your IP as it changes and you'll have to poke some holes in the Airport Extreme to allow FTP (preferably secured) in from the outside.
