I'm trying to decide whether to get a D-Link DIR-655 GigE router or an Apple Aiport Extreme Base Station. One problem with the AEBS is that it isn't clear that it supports Jumbo frames. There are differing opinions on this subject:
I'm mainly interested in gigabit wired networking (not wireless) so that I can attach a ReadyNAS Duo device. The more fully-featured D-Link DIR-655 definitely has jumbo frames:
I guess that if 802.11n networking became important in the future, I could always add an Airport Express unit in bridge mode.
Since I don't need an airport disk or printer sharing, there isn't really any reason to prefer the AEBS, is there? Ah, one last thing: the AEBS pretty much doesn't require any configuration with iChat thanks to NAT port mapping -- I'm not sure about the DIR-655.
