Hi All,
I just got myself a fully loaded 2.5GHz 17" MBP and it is in general quite nice..... However, wifi is causing me soooo much trouble and I have no idea what is going on! My network consists of an Apple Airport Extreme (also new, running 7.3.1 firmware), one PB G4 and one MB. The G4 and MB computers connect just fine to the network, but the MBP is really causing trouble. Especially when I try to connect to local computers/Airport connected hard drives and/or waking the computer up from sleep. The MBP seem to connect to the wifi network (initially with full strength) but transfer/browsing/email is extremely slow or not happening at all. Sometimes turning on/off the airport from the MBP helps, but not always. Also a restart may help, but again not all the time.
I have tried pretty much every thing, including:
1. Turning off IPv6.
2. Changing channel (after finding available ones using stumbler).
3. Resetting network preferences and creating new locations.
4. I have even booted into 'Safe Mode', but the problem persisted even here.
The airport is setup with a fixed internet IP address and all the computers receive their IP via DHCP (although I have tried with fixed ip on the MBP - still same problem). I have also tried to put in DNS servers on the MBP, but still it doesn't work....
I get quite a few errors in the console, the most frequent ones being related to mDNSresponder (I think that is the culprit). Here's a couple of examples:
