i bought this hardware to share my printer...is there any other reason to use it?...i mean i have the wireless router already...plugging the router to the airport is redundant?....and maybe slows the internet connection down?

and seems like the range is less than the router connecting directly...can i connect straight thru the router and use the airport only for sharing printer?

Yes, you can use the AP Express only for printer sharing. Your wireless clients can connect to the main router w/o going through the Express. In order for printer sharing to work you just have to make sure that the AP Express can connect to the router. The Express can share printers regardless if it's connected to your router through Ethernet or through WiFi. If they're set up close to each other I'd connect through Ethernet.
