okay so I finally bought a macbook pro laptop and I have to say its pretty slick

however when I bring it to work I cannot connect to a shared printer, which is a PC. All the computers here are PC except my new MAC.

Konica Minolta Pagepro 1350w

I can browse the network, login to the shared PC and see the printer but it won't print.

I did not see any MAC drivers on the Minolta site..

There are many different ways of adding a printer in the Print & Fax settings. Have you tried "IP" (if you know the IP address) or "Windows"?

Steve
Guess I finally got that fifth star!

I added by ip and it says "network host is busy, will retry in 10 seconds" and it gets stuck in the print que on the shared printer

I tried WINDOWS too

but I can print from any other machine, no problems.

well I followed the instructions on the link you provided and installed the drivers they recommended. Using the Generic PCL 5c Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) it sends the print job to the shared printer but on the shared printer it indicates Remote Downlevel Document, status Printing. USB001 Port.

And nothing comes out. I have to restart the spooler to cancel the job.

Any thoughts?

Check the queue name your Mac has for that printer. Just about every PC (and PC-connected printer) refuses to work unless the queue is named "lpt1". This may simply be taken care of by the driver installation, but it may not, and it can really screw up your day if your printer isn't printing because the job has the wrong queue name.

See what happens if you change the queue to "lpt1". Betcha it does better... It's something to do with print job processing on the host PC, not the Mac at all.

Well it was worth a shot...

I assume you've checked the PC's printer sharing settings to make sure there isn't some sort of rights issue or something...

Did you ever resolve this issue of the mac not completing a print job sent to the shared printer? I am having the same issue with an HP7700 series printer and all else is as you described: I can access the shared server with no problem and my mac recognizes the HP printer using the IP address as installed by our IT group, but all print jobs wind up with the "Network host '192.168.0.2' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds." message. There is nothing actually in the print queu, other than my job. Thanks for any help!
