Here's the issue: for the past few months, at certain times I am OnLine, my internet connection becomes slow and erradict. I click on links and am redirected to some Google search page. Also, pages either load at a sluggish rate or not at all. I check my airport/network connection in the menubar and what appears is H3J95 in the list of available network locations. Whenever that tag appears, I experience all that I have described above, whenever that tag does not appear, I have none of the afformentioned issues. If the unknown tag is not present, web pages load quickly, when I click on a particular link, I do not get redirected to some Google search page and my connection speed is quick and responsive. Can anyone shed some light on what could be happening here? Is my airport/network security being compromised? I connect to my DSL line via a NETGEAR wireless router and primarily use Safari as my web browser. If anyone can shed some light on what could be going on I would be forever grateful. Any and all guidance is much apprecaited. Thanks.

You can run the free iStat menus to continuously monitor bandwidth activity from your menu bar. If it goes gray, it means you've lost internet connectivity. However, your problem sounds more like other problems.

I would try changing your DNS servers to use OpenDNS. OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet

You can also use a speed test site like Speedtest.net to see if you're experiencing problems with your connection or with the distant end's. And keep in mind that your DSL provider may experience high load levels that cut down on how much bandwidth you get, and even what parts of the Internet you have access to from time to time. It shouldn't happen often, but it can be a royal pain. This sort of thing could mean that your DNS server is not reachable for a short period of time, or even that its connections are goobered momentarily. Thus, trying OpenDNS is a GREAT suggestion. But knowing your connection's actual speed is important too, because you can learn a lot from that.
