Problem - MacBook Pro (model MacBookPro3,1 - 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo) with internal airport extreme (firmware 1.4.3.1) with OS 10.5.4 will not connect to Time Capsule wireless N at 5ghz frequency. I can connect with b/g compatibility or 2.4 Ghz option set. I have searched Apples forums to see this problem elsewhere but no resolution has been documented that I can find. Has anyone else experienced this and hopefully, is there a way to fix this?
Thanks for any help.
B

You may need to run the 'n' enabler if it didn't run already.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have already run the enabler and can connect N on 2.4 Ghx (130 Mbps) But cannot connect at the faster 5Ghz frequency.

If it's set to 5 GHz, does it show up in your airport menu bar and won't connect, or does it not show up at all?

It shows up in menu and then fails on connect and then disappears from menu.

It is compatible - those with Core 2 Duo processors (like mine) support 802.11 a/b/g/n. I can connect to 802.11n at 2.4 Ghz which gets 130Mbps but I believe it should also connect at 5Ghz which would increase network speed to 300Mbps - which would be a help since I am trying to connect to a Time Capsule.

Update - I can't say for sure what corrected things, but after a week of this not working, I decided to try things again - and it is working.

I experience exactly the same issue with my MBP Core Duo with an AirPort Extreme. Very very frustrating... Anybody else?

I had a somewhat similar experience, but a bit experimentation showed that the problem was that the MBP gets significantly worse reception on 5 GHz than on 2.4 GHz. If I set the Time Capsule network to n only, 5 GHz I can't connect from the room where my MBP usually is, but my wife's MB can, and I can connect if I go downstairs to the room where the Time Capsule is. On the other hand, I can get a 2.4 GHz n signal that's adequate in both places.
I was thinking about trying to fix this by getting an AP Express (new model with n) and using it to extend the network -- that used to work with my old Express b/g network. I assume that the "n" capability of the new AP Express includes 5 GHz. But comments seem to indicate that the AP Express is quite flakey when used in this way. Any relevant experiences?
