Ive been using newshosting a commercial server for a few months w no real problem. postings are sl slow, they might have to go thorough giganews or something.

sometimes when Unison is in the process of Dl the headers, the service cuts out and I ask to DL again that this works.

today I can't get and keep a reliable upload 'slot' or whatever you call it. this is not a problem with my FiOS service as I get full upload/download w other apps.

Ive contacted newshosting support and they didn't know what the probnlem was as said to try port 7000,8000.9000. I think Unison was on port 119.

Ive also got this message from Unison:

The server said: "fe16.iad.newshosting.com: Access denied to your node - support@newshosting.com"

I know little about ports. Id really like to see how to fix this.

ring any bells w the August (now Sept.) membership at MacNN?

cheers and thanks
