well to begin i am contemplating buying a airport extreme. i already have a wireless router but it doesn't have the option to put usb peripherals on the network. i want to hook up an external hard drive and a set of usb speakers to the network so i can watch movies and listen to music from my external hard drive wirelessly. would all of his be too much for the airport to handle? does anyone else have experience with the belkin network usb hub, this would be a much cheaper alternative but i'm a bit hesitant to go with this option. thanks in advance!

The USB port is for mass storage and some printers only. No scanners, speakers, joysticks, keyboards, etc.

If you want speakers, but not usb, then go for the airport express. You could buy an express for the speakers and printer, and then an extreme for the hard drive and another printer. the airport extreme (n) can support multiple usb insertions while using a POWERED usb hub. Personal note: I found when testing the wireless hard drive option with my APE, that read/write was un-usefully slow.
