Yesterday I updated my system to 10.5.5 and since then I have been having network problems.
The first thing I noticed is that if I wanted to connect to my router with my manually-entered settings (I like to use a fixed ip in my lan so i can forward ports on the router), internet wouldn't work. If I set the network position to "Automatic", though, networking would work.
I tried to reboot, tried to zap the pram/vram, but it still didn't work. And even if I chose the automatic configuration, when I booted my intel macbook, Airport wouldn't connect to a network by itself and I had to select one.
So I checked the network preferences and noticed that there was a mess with Parallels, the Parallels NAT configuration pane was the Airport one and vice-versa. Something really bizarre.
I uninstalled Parallels with the uninstaller they supply in the installation .DMG, rebooted and now networking with my manual settings does work, HOWEVER:
The Airport interface is now called "Parallels NAT" although there are no more other traces of Parallels on my system. Does anyone know what's going on?
Oh, and also, although internet is working as it should, the Airport icon in the top right corner of the screen indicates that it is turned off, and if I click on it, it says "not configured".
I'm pretty lost about what to do. Is there some way in the terminal to reset networking to a default configuration?
Thank you very much for your help!
