Ok so I set up a SMB share with my Vista laptop, the files are stores on my mac, and I access them from my Vista laptop. As far as being able to access the files, that works fine, my concern is with security.
On the main sharing screen I have the "Everyone" user set to no access, and my account set to read & write. Under the portion where you click on "Share folders using AFP, Share Folders using SMB, etc" I have both AFP & SMB checked off, in the area below "Share folders using SMB" I have my account on my mac checked.
When I access the shared drive from Vista, it does not ask me for any sort of password what so ever. I assume that since it is on a WPA encrypted network that someone would first have to get past that to even get access to this correct? Assuming they did it seems like they would have free rein to do whatever they want to the files on this shared drive?
