I've got an XServe configured with Web services enabled, but my connections time out when I try to hit port 80 or 8888 from the outside. Also, port scans tell me that all ports are closed, but I know :80 and :8888 are open because I can hit it from the inside.

DNS entries are fine, and my Cisco firewall is set to pass traffic correctly... I think. Can anything think of anything that might be blocking traffic?

Thanks!

When you say you can hit it from the inside, do you mean you can access it on your LAN? it sounds like a NAT/Firewall issue.

Are there any routers between the computer and the Net that you might have forgotten? If you can access it inside your LAN but not outside, it definitely sounds like your problem is a firewall or router that isn't properly configured.

Also, I'm moving this to Networking since it's a network issue.

Could be your ISP.

I've checked with my ISP, checked the router NAT and firewall rules (Cisco ASA), and have tested firewall rules on the server itself. It turns out that every firewall rule I implement will affect the LAN users, but I still can't access port 80 from the outside. I'm obviously missing something here, but I don't know what it is. Is there something on the server I need to do? Any more ipfw configuration? Can someone suggest something to do on the Cisco? Aaarrgghh!!

Thanks a million.
