Network settings ... can't access them!

I'm unable to access my network settings via the System Preferences. I get a box that says "Your network settings have been changed by another application - OK" Clicking on the OK just results in the same box displaying again. I end up having to force quit System Preferences.
Any ideas... are there some preference files I need to delete to free this up????

No even after reboot it's still won't let me in.
I'll look at trashing some of the preferences... but which ones?

I'm having the same problem having had my settings changed by a new high speed server.
Any new ideas to try? Have you contacted Mac assistance by phone about this problem.
Please let me know when you figure this out.

install applejack and run it with the repair permissions options. Maybe there's an errant permission someplace.

I fixed mine by trashing some preferences:
Mac HD/Library/preferences/com.apple.networkConfig.plist
Mac HD/Library/preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Mac HD/Library/preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
Mac HD/Library/preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
Not sure if I needed to delete all these but it did it for me!

This is a bug caused by the latest security update to 10.4.11. Nearly all fixes to it prove temporary. Apple recommends a clean install of the OS. Upgrading to Leopard also fixes it.
Or you can go to security and select require password to unlock secure system prefs.
