We have this really expensive oscilloscope in the lab here that unfortunately runs Windows XP. The other day I wanted to access some file on my Mac from the scope and tried mounting the smb share. But no dice. Tried it from a regular Windows XP box too but still no luck.
The Mac has smb sharing activated. A user account has been selected. The firewall has been set to accept smb sharing.
On the Windows side the smb share doesn't pop up in the list of available shares. If I use the irritating XP wizard and point it to \\nameOfTheMac\share it doesn't connect either. It just hangs.
Is there any type of authentication trouble between the way XP expects it to work and the way Leopard works? Any ideas or tricks? I googled for it, but it appears most people had trouble getting it to work the other way around. That's not an issue here. I can easily mount all my Windows smb shares on Leopard.
