i currently have my 8 year old crap xp computer that recently got a virus/malware. i bought a new imac when the refresh came yesterday, so i wanted to transfer my files (mostly media, ie. mp3s, movies, and pictures) via ethernet crossover cable. is there any possible way that the while im transferring these files, that somehow the virus transfers itself to my imac? im thinking its highly unlikely, but just asking at the off chance that it does happen.

(i got the "spyware protect 2009 and hijack.sound" malware on my pc if that makes any difference)

It won't transfer. If it does, it won't do anything anyway.

Viruses that affect Windows don't do ANYTHING in OS X. If an infected file gets transferred, it will do precisely nothing. You're good to go.
