Installed the new firmware on all my base stations pretty much the day it was released. I have a Time Capsule (main) and an Extreme comprising a 5GHz "n" network. I also have two extremes (one flat and one dome) comprising a b/g WDS.
Almost immediately after installing the firmware, I began experiencing problems. Essentially what will happen is I will open my laptop in the morning, start doing my usual check up on the news of the day routine, and about 3-5 minutes into surfing, downloading, whatever, my connection dies. The interesting thing is that I regain my connection if I open Airport Utility and select a device to configure.
I've already gone through the 30 minute process of fully resetting all of my base stations and rebuilding my networks. That was yesterday around noon. It worked fine after doing that until this morning.
Computer restart fixes the issue, but only temporarily. Problem is also intermittent in that it works fine about 50% of the time.
Also, it is definitely a wireless issue, because my Mac Pro and my laptop both have a solid connection via ethernet.
After resetting everything, I'm not sure how to proceed at this point.. thanks for any help!

I have had the same issues with the latest firmware. I have rebooted, reset, and reinstalled airport utility. There must be others out there with this same problems. I'm just using a single airport extreme.

This is why I only ever update Apple firmware and software if it's adding something I need or fixing something wrong, and even then I wait for reveiws. Several sources are finding this release to be buggy and are recommending against upgrading to it. Some people are reporting some success in downgrading their firmware.
I honestly trust Microsoft software updates more than I trust Apple updates.

I've also experienced decreased performance since the update - I have an Extreme running g for my Powerbook, and now get at most two bars and no real usability. iPhone also seems to have issues, but I haven't had it long enough to know what's normal. The only thing I'd tried so far was rebooting the ABS, which like other made no difference.

So maybe the solution here is to downgrade the firmware??? How would we go about doing that? Anyone, anyone?

In Airport Utility, select the device and click 'manual setup'.
On the summary page where it says "Version: X.X.X" Click on "Version"
Use the pull-down to choose older firmware.

Airport Utility is awfully aggressive about trying to get me to upgrade my basestation. I've set it to not check for updates but it is monitoring for problems and it's now reporting that my basestation has a problem. The problem it's reporting is that the basestation isn't running the latest firmware.

I seem to have messed up the LAN software [goodness know how!] since the last Airport firmware up date. Three other Mac computers continue to work just fine on the LAN but the Mac Pro won't - I've reverted to the earlier version as suggested but it's still not working and guess I messed something else up when trying to sort it out.
I have Time Capsule installed - how can I restore to an earlier version from that? Or possibly transfer from the Mac Book pro? Or any other solution?
PS: I fixed the problem - wish I could remember how - but help no longer needed. Am sure to be back sometime as it takes the aging a LONG time to forget PC's and learn Mac!

Complaints about Apple's premature firmware updates aside, over the past few weeks, I've experienced the problem to such an extend that I can now describe it in more detail.
Recap of my relevant setup: 5GHz "n" w/ TC as main and 1 AE as extension. I have an ooma, which is my primary router, because it provides the best performance this way. (Having ooma act as my router did not affect my wireless connection before the firmware.) The TC is therefore in bridge mode connected to the ooma.
Motorola Cable Modem --(CAT6)--> ooma --(CAT6)--> TC --(5GHz "n")--> AE
Basically, my aforementioned problem only occurs only once a day on my MacBook (the only wireless computer I have in the house). It is usually first thing in the morning about 3-5 minutes after I begin using my computer. So, I leave my MacBook open and on (not in sleep mode) all night, get out of bed in the morning, grab a beer, sit down to the computer, check email and various news sites, and not long thereafter it is as if I lose my internet connection (wireless is still connected).
The freaky thing is I regain my connection if I open Airport Utility, select my TC, and enter manual setup, it fixes the connection. The connection is only temporarily fixed, however.
What I've discovered since my last post is the following:
-It matters not when I get up in the morning. My work calls for an odd sleep schedule. Sometimes as early as 5AM and sometimes as late as 11AM. No matter what time I get or (or what time I stopped using my computer the night before), the problem always happens in the morning about 3-5 minutes after I pull up a website in Safari.
-I can essentially buy myself a full day if I reset the TC from AIrport Utility. (So when I am in Airport Utility, I change a rather inconsequential setting, such as wide channels, hit update, wait 30 seconds, and I'm good until the next morning.
-It is much less frustrating to just leave the computer plugged into the ethernet all day and all night.
I'm calling AppleCare today to "report" the problem to them. I'll let you know how it goes.

What Apple said:
They wanted me to (I'm quoting here) "reset my Airport Card." (Sarcasm in the following sentence...) For those that want to know how to accomplish this miraculous feat, it is really nothing more than what the Apple geniuses call:
1. Creating and applying a new location in Netwrok Prefs and setting the service order with Airport at the top.
2. Deleting all Airport-related passwords in Keychain.
After being walked through this (more sarcasm...) incredibly complicated and essential task, I was told to call back if the problem happens again because they are "definitely concerned if the firmware is affecting [my] computer, or [my] network, or [my] wireless, or [my] Time Capsule."
I'll report in again..
