I currently use an Actiontec Wireless DSL Gateway (GT704), into which DSL is fed through the phone line, with an integrated 4-port router. I'll be dropping the DSL, in favor of cable internet service. The cable modem I'll be using is not wireless-ready, so I'll need a router.
Using the Actiontec as a wireless base station, should I in theory, be able to connect the cable modem via ethernet to one of the four provided ports and then use the wireless capabilities on that unit? How about connecting other devices to the other router ports?
In other words, can such a device work as any other router might?
Thanks.
