Can't connect with Screen Sharing

I have read through a number of post over the past few days, but can't seem to find an answer t my problem. I am using a Mac desktop and a Mac laptop both are running OS X 10.5.8. When I attempt to login to my desktop with my laptop a login window appears asking for a password. No matter what I type here I get a failed attempt. I have used the password for start up login on the desktop along with a couple of other possibilities. I have even created a new user account on my laptop and added it as an allowed user for the screen sharing on the desktop, still no joy!

I can login from my desktop to my laptop with out any problems. I don't even get the login window it is just an automatic process when I click on the screen sharing button.

Any help out there?
