this involves coordination of three devices:

Airport Extreme Base Station n
Apple - AirPort Extreme - Technical Specs
Belkin Network USB Hub
Belkin : Network USB Hub
Toshiba PCX 2600 via USB
Toshiba Network Products : Products : PCX2600

I just got a Belkin Network USB Hub to share printers and scanners between several computers and am having difficulty connecting it to my AEBS . . .
Since the AEBS only has one ethernet port IN, the cable modem would now have to be connected to the AEBS via usb instead of ethernet.

So I am wondering if in fact the Cable modem can be hooked up to the AEBS via USB, and that the Belkin would be connected to the AEBS via ethernet to accomplish my goals of printer/scanner/hd/internet sharing. The wiring is not a problem but whether it is possible.

Anyone ever get this to work?
Much thanks

This doesn't make sense. The chain would be like this:

modem -> AEBS -> USB hub.

All the connections are made with ethernet. The hub connects to one of the 3 ethernet LAN ports on the router, while the modem connects to the one WAN port.

Am I missing something here?

Steve
Guess I finally got that fifth star!

ibook_steve

thank you for your advice

I was not aware that the hub could be connected to one of the ethernet ports on the AEBS and that it had to be connected to the WAN port.

everything works fine now. thanks
