This may be more of a networking issues since a good deal of it involves TimeCapsule, but I could be wrong:
So my wife and I have owned a MacBook Pro but since we've been fighting over user rights, we ended up purchasing an iMac recently as well. I set up the iMac by migrating our existing account over to it via firewire, etc. which seemed like a great idea at the time since all of settings, apps, docs etc. transferred over, but now I find myself with a ton of questions:
1) I noticed that the Timecapsule lists the iMac as "backup of XX MacBook Pro" and shows up under the same folder as the originals as opposed to a new/different "backup of XX iMac". Is there a way/is it recommended that the iMac be named differently?
2) Is there a preferred way to share iLife files between the two and be able to simultaneously access them? I was planning on hooking up an external hd to Timecapsule for file sharing (after I get #1 figured out) but am not sure if "Library" type files are sharable too.
3) I noticed that Timecapsule shows up in the finder window as a shared drive. What exactly is this about and can this be utilized for sharing files, etc? I've been told that Timecapsule wasn't "built" for that...
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the noob questions.

1) Are the computer names the same?
2) No. All sorts of simultaneous access issues.
3) It's a network share like any other.

1) yes, they're the same. I'm assuming that that's a side effect of originally migrating info over from the macbook. How would one go about changing the name of the computer?
2) understood
3) I think I understand, but this is all new to me: so I'm assuming that its safe to transfer/share files between my two computers at home using this?
Thanks again.

I found out how to change the name under system prefs, sharing... kinda unintuitive. So under "devices, backups" should there be a separate folder for the imac backups?

3) As safe as any file on the TC.
Yes, your two computers should have different backup folders.
