Hello,
As a disclaimer I'm fairly inexperienced with Mac networking. That being said, I've been trying with no luck to set-up my Mac for remote access using RemoteTap from my iPhone. This is not a application problem, but a general remote access problem since any remote connection does not seem to work. Here's the specs of my network.
Using an Airport Extreme 802.11g version 5.7, connect to cable modem. I also have an Airport Express to boost network. Two macs on my network, one MacBook (wireless), one Mac Pro (ethernet connected). They are sharing a public IP address. Wireless mode is set to particpate in a WDS network. I've Enabled NAT Port Mapping Protocol. Possible un/related problem: my Airport Utility on my MacPro frequently fails to pick up my Airport Extreme. I have to unplug Extreme and plug it back again for it to be seen on my Mac. Otherwise, no internet problems)
So here's what happens.
I installed the RemoteTap app on my MacPro (OS 10.5.8). I went ahead and opened up my port 5902 as per their instructions using Airport Utility. (BTW, I'm a little confused as to what address to map it- I've mapped it to 10.0.1.1:5902, but my MacPro doesn't tell me what 10.0.1.* address I'm at). Once this is done I cannot connect with the RemoteTap app either locally or inputting in my external IP address. RemoteTap technical support recommended I Telnet to my MacPro from my MacBook and see if it connects. I tried this and no connection either.
Their technical support gave up. So I'm turning to you guys to try and help since it seems this might be a larger problem than one app. Or perhaps I'm just stupidly overlooking something here.
Any help would be appreciated!
