Just made my first move to a MBP. The rest of the computers in my home are still MS based (an probably will be for some time).

My question is:
I would like to backup my MBP via time machine to a USB HD attached to a computer on my network. (attached to a PC that runs Media Center so its always on).

I have read about hacks to allow Time Machine to see them but wonder about the safety of doing so.

Has anyone here done this?

I just can't afford buying a Time Capsule or an Airport when I have a perfectly good Wireless N router now.

Thanks in advance

Can you mount the drive on your OS X desktop? If so, then I think you should be able to select it in the Time Machine preferences.

Steve
Guess I finally got that fifth star!
