So I've had a gigabit network now for a few years and don't know why I never went down this path...

All the machines support both gigabit and jumbo frames they all get patched into a netgear gigabit switch which support jumbo frames and then into the current airport extreme which also supports jumbo frames.

Question is how do I go about enabling it? I see that if I go into advanced for the LAN connection in system preferences that under ethernet I can manually configure it -- but then what about when I leave this network and plug in elsewhere I don't want to have to switch Locations or whatever Apple is calling it now. I'm assuming the internet will find its way with the router sorting that out? Is there a device that I can tell to use jumbo frames and everything else will follow suit (like gigabit)?
