I would appreciate a ''for dummies'' list on how to access a 1Tb drive connected to my TC . TC is wirelessly connected to the Airport based network. A-Extreme has a USB Airdisk.

I have named the 1 Tb and 32 FAT formatted it whilst connected to my MBP by ethernet.

When I connect the 1 Tb to TC I can retirieve details about the 1 Tb when I type in the IP address in Safari.

What I cannot understand is where is the 1 Tb mounted? I would like to treat it like an Airdisk.

Thank you for your help.

Doesn't it appear in the Shared section of your Finder windows?

You set up a disk connected to the TC as an AirDisk the same way you do for a disk you connect to the AP Extreme. Launch AirPort Utility, select TC, etc.

Thank you Simon, I tried to find the NAS but it does not appear in shared part of Finder. Airdisk and the TC do.

Using airport utility and going to disks on TC only shows the TC disk. Nil else.
rebooted , Soft reset the network and re-jigged it. no joy
Any ideas ?

Thank you

Have you tried connecting the disk through USB to a Mac and reformatting it as HFS+/Journaled?

Thanks again Simon.

The disk will not mount via USB.

It does not appear in disk utility.

When the USB cable is plugged in there is a flash of the activity lamp and the MBP disc clicks.

Could the interface be duff?

Have you tried different USB ports? Make sure all other USB devices are unplugged first. If you have another Mac it might be interesting to try there just to rule out the USB ports.

But assuming your Mac is fine, if Disk Utility cannot see the drive at all either the drive or the USB-SATA bridge in the cases are bad.
