Hi,
does anyone here have a working copy of the application "Internet Connect.app" for 10.4.11 for PowerPC that she/he could share with me?
Mine doesn't work anymore since I had my laptops' harddisk repaired (by a accrediet Mac repairing firm...) about a year ago. Until now this didn't really affect my possibility to connect to wireless networks, but since last week I cannot connect to any wireless anymore. This morning I followed some suggestions made in another forum ( http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=592305) with the result that as suggested in that thread, all my locations but "Automatic" are now gone. The only problem seems to be, that without a functioning Internet Connect.app, I cannot re-establish any new wireless locations. So my Mac is basically totally offline now
BTW: I also considered just buying and installing "Leopard" on the machine, but had to read in some threads that internet connectability also seems to be an issue there. Any suggestions on that?
Help would be much appreciated!

You don't need Internet Connect to make it work. Assuming you are not having the 10.4.11 bug mentioned in the link (I had that too and gave up and updated to Leopard when it happened), just go to your network preferences, select the Airport connection, select a wireless network, and set TCP/IP to get an address with DHCP. Assuming a basic network setup, you should be good to go.
IIRC, Internet Connect is simply a wizard to make it easier to set up a network connection. You don't need it.

Dear Steve and angelmb,
Thanks for your fast replies, much appreciated . Steves suggestion helped me to connect again to our private wireless at home. I did not manage to connect to the one in my office, however, but this can of course also be some new settings of that WLAN that I will have to check with IT. But that's not so important as I do most stuff on my office pc there anyway.
I do appreciate to have a working InternetConnect.app again, however, because it will help me to re-establish also an Ethernet connection. I am sure this is also possible without the IC-wizard, but it's just so much easier with the wizard since I know how to handle that one.
Thanks again and have a nice day

Setting up an ethernet connection is exactly the same as setting up an Airport connection, but easier because you don't even have to worry about a wireless network. Again, just select the Ethernet interface, set TCP/IP to DHCP and it should work.
Internet Connect is really only for beginner users who have no idea about networking or setting up a connection. It sounds like you're beyond that, so it's really not necessary. It think it has even been removed in Snow Leopard because I don't have it on my machine (confirmed by Wikipedia; all features are in the Network preferences now).
