Welcome to our forums!

Can you explain your "IP conflict?" You don't mention any conflict in your post. Plus, how is your router connected to the Internet? DSL? Cable? How is it configured? THAT right there could be the problem if you're on DSL...

Also, when you say "I can't connect to the Internet," what are you trying to connect with? A browser? An email client? It's kind of important.

Your city and ISP could help us out as well.

Again, welcome to our forums!

What encryption are you running? I have had horrible disconnects with netgear running WPA and that stupid WPS code.

Set it to no encryption and see if that helps. In the meantime I'll try to recall what I did to get mine working with wpa.

I have a WGR614 - no WPS keys on this one, just the normal methods.

I have to say, I had increasing connectivity issues to that router, same problem with a Netgear Rangemax I tested - not sure if it's this house, we have thick walls and cordless phones everywhere. Random issues that would require a reboot. I replaced it with 2 x 2wire routers, with every other function turned off so that they just act as access points.

With the 2 x 2wire boxes, if I move from one section of the house to the other, I'll sometimes have to reboot before I can get a connection to the other router, things just seem to get confused.

Wireless is always going to be hit and miss, reliability = physical cable.

thanks for so many replies guys

ok I'll try best I can to describe the problem

I have an older pc upstairs, connected to the router by a standard cable or whatever it's called

once in few days I get a message on both mac and pc, that there's a IP conflict, at which point the internet stops working. 2nd problem is that my airport stops working within minutes after I restart the router. Not sure if those 2 problems are caused by the IP conflict or not.

How do I go back to factory internet setting on my mac?, and how do I deal with the conflict?

I think you have a static IP address set on your PC upstairs, probably 192.168.0.2. You should add a reservation in your router so that it no longer tries to give out that address to other computers.

Re encryption, when you connect to your wireless network, you type in a password. There's some form of encryption set for that.

And makim, what is the kind of connection you have going TO your modem from the outside world? Is it connected to a phone line, or to a wire from a cable box? That will help us give you more complete directions for how to change some settings.

Try Renewing your DHCP Lease. Sometimes that works.
System Prefs: Network: Advanced: TCP/IP

I had a Netgear router (connected to cable) for a while. It ran fine, but then started cutting out several times a day. I tried WPA2 and the cutouts stopped immediately.

I read somewhere that open wireless networks can get screwed up when Windows machines try to connect. I don't know how true that is, but when I password protected my wireless network, the problems stopped. There are literally dozens of wireless networks visible in my Airport menu.

That's not what this sentence said to me:

Did I miss something more specific elsewhere?

I took it to mean that the PC upstairs is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable... Nothing mentioned a modem.

Makim, are you in Warsaw? What/who provides your Internet service?

off topic
Yes, I know it wasn't explicitly mentioned that it he was using a cable service, but it's generally marketed towards users with cable broadband connections where the ISP supplies their own modem.
It has no ASDL/DSL port, just another ethernet port for WAN.
/off topic.

Ahhhhh...You figured it out from the router... All is clear now. I did miss something, but it wasn't something I'd have read, it was something I'd have had to look up. I feel better about my reading skills now.

Have you set static IP's on any devices?
