To be more specific I can't install any themes on my icebook 700. I just wiped the drive and installed a fresh copy of Jag, including all available SW updates from Apple.

I have the same SW config on my MDD and themechanger worked fine. I borked the ibook three times using duality so I'll not even try that one again till it's updated.

When I attempt to theme Jag 10.2.3 with the MaggraXs (10..2.3) theme, themechanger just hangs after I click on "switch". I've also tried alumiteX and a few of the swizcore themes. The progress bar just keeps on "going" for over 10-15 minutes till I quit the app. It seems that the bootpanel/logo is changed but nothing else.

Prior to the latest SW update I had alumiteX installed but I've wiped the drive and reinstalled since then. I have tried to theme with and without the DevTools installed.

I want to theme the icebook and can't figure out why themechanger will not function on this machine when it worked prevoiusly and works on my desktop. I've also re-downloaded themechanger and several themes to no avail.

any help is appreciated.

TIA

Are they setup with UNIX file systems? I know that FS can be a big hickup for theme switching.

My HD is set up with HFS+. Journaling is off.

From my console log just this morning:

2003-01-01 13:05:01.278 ThemeChanger[532] /Users/****/Library/Themes/MaggraX.theme/Extras.rsrc
2003-01-01 13:05:01.562 ThemeChanger[532] Unable to open resource fork from url file://localhost/Users/****/Library/Themes/MaggraX.theme/Extras.rsrc

good idea...

Still not sure what it means though. Any ideas?

Update.

I reinstalled stuffit 7.01 and downloaded MaggraXs again. this time themechanger worked. It took all of about 5 seconds.

Thanks for the suggestions and keep up the great work on the apps and themes.

P.S. I may get flamed but I think the devolopers of themes and themechanging apps should charge something. I've paid for duality, themer anche and made a donation for themechanger but it would be nice to give something to the theme authors themselves too.. perhaps on a voluntary basis...

Anyhow, thanks again and happy New Year.

Sounds the theme was corrupted the first time. Odd.

Some themers ask you to make donations - I know Max does, for example. Some want to work for free, others may want to charge. With ThemeChanger I decided people can pay if they really want to, but it's by no means required. So far all of two people have taken me up on that (probably because it's only mentioned on the site, and was added well after v12 was release, and given the choice most people would understandably choose not to pay rather than pay), and you are one of them. Thanks!
