I noticed in some peoples screenshots, that they've altered the icons for the menu extras (as in the battery, sound, clock colour etc..) Along those lines, I use TigerLaunch (a program launcher which resides in the menu bar), which i'd like to alter the icon by removing the shadow and replacing the icon. Can this be done?

I love TigerLaunch! It looks like you should be able to edit the icons in Iconographer easily enough. You might have to name yours the same as one that's in there and replace it. They are in the resources folder inside the app. You look inside the app by ctrl clicking it and choosing Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that pops up. You probably can't get rid of the shadow though except with Unsanity's ShadowKiller or WindowShade, which will get rid of most of it, along with all other window shadows too!

If you make a really good icon, post it here because I don't really like any of the stock ones that well either. You do know that it comes with 13 different ones don't you?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Yes i know it comes with many icons, but they don't really fit in with the osx menu extras, I'd really like to get rid of that shadow though, it looks silly since 10.2 got rid of the menu shadows. Thanks for your help anyways, i don't know if i can produce a good icon, but i'll give it a shot.

I don't think Tigerlaunch is a "real" menu extra...it just floats on top of the menubar. As for the shadow, curious thing is that sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't

I'm not sure why, I don't know if it has anything to do with themes...with some themes it's there, and with some it isn't. Right now I'm using Mac OS XP theme and it has no shadow. You can probably kill the shadow by hacking the code, kind of like Unsanity does with Metallifier (turn it on and off), but I know nothing about programming.
