I installed duality today, and downloaded the Quicksilver theme. It is great, except that in certian Apple apps like iCal, and Safari, the 3 buttons (close, minimize, maximize) do not show up; they simply are not there. In the other applications and in the finder the buttons appear just fine. Is there any way to fix this?

-thanks, ben

Use Themefur to update the Extras.rsrc within the theme, the version of the theme you have hasn't been updated for 10.2.3. Basically 10.2.3 introduced brand new widgets specifically and only for brushed apps.

Same people, same answer. ThemeChanger might be the new kid on the block but it's not Duality's problem. A lot of the themes contain new code in the main.themescript that Colin hasn't updated to include yet. Theme Changer isn't the end all be all of new themes. He's working on it and all your 'problems' should be fixed upon the new release.

And the answer about the Extras.rsrc is probably the right one. If the theme doesn't contain the new resources it will just render them empty. It's not Duality's fault. In fact I bet you Theme Changer would render the same issue.

i'll take that bet. themechanger wisely leaves the resource the same as the aqua version if there is no replacement. and it's free. and it's smaller than duality. and it works better. so why use duality at all is my question.

In fact, ThemeChanger doesn't render them blank.

Actually, it doesn't "leave them the same", it specifically copies them across. It's not really an elegant solution, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Hmm.... i just downloaded themechanger and I still can't seem to get my buttons back.

Edit: oh wait, there they are.... but the stupid brushed windows have the round corners and it doesn't match the rest of the OS...
