He was more or less correct in that it certainly falls under 3rd Party Apps. BUT you too have a point in that it somewhat alters your UI. But there was no need for such language. Please think nextime, and phrase your distaste in another form.

Thank you,
Mac Guru

I for one think that this is a legitimate question for the GUI Customization forum... it should relate to anything that alters the GUI for the purpose of customizing it to one's tastes - including something as simple as the removal of the finder icon from the dock. I don't think it should center exclusively on the creation or use of custom elements. That's my 2¢ anyways...

This is more or less the right forum...

Jeez, do we have to have a blood bath over it?

To answer the question, no i do not know how to get rid of the icon, however I know how to get rid of the dock.
In vino veritas.

Use the Applescript program Transparent Dock...t adds a command that allows you to remove the Finder...or try Hide from Dock.

What do you think the correct forum is for programs that alter the OSX gui is anyway?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Stop creating fights over nothing, answer the question and go on with your lives. Seriously is one post going to stop all existance and create a world disaster as shole is not a stong word, quite mild actually. At least he didn't call him a mother ****er. Yes I said FUCER+K

Sir, you need to take a chill pill. If anyone was posting just to hear themselves talk it was you. Calm down and come back when you clan play nice.

Who said I was not calm? It is wrong for us to voice opinion now. That really sucks. Do you not see that people are just posting to amuse themselves? You yourself are doing it in a power trip kind of way. Why not let the people know that just post nonsense that they need to take it somewhere else and only stick to subject. I think if Ben wanted an alternative to taking the Icon out he would have asked for that, but didn't and people still posted alternate thins that really had nothing to do with it. So don't give me that crap about clans.

You chew out the moderator for talking about clans and then you bring up alternate thins? You've got a LOT of nerve talking about thins on a gui forum!!!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

I didn't notice until now but figured someone might have, clan is supposed to be 'can'.

As for not seeing people post about 'useless' things, the apps they suggested are not off topic, they are simply suggesting other applications or scripts for people to use to remove the Finder Icon from the Dock. I never said you couldn't voice your oppinion, but I DID say not to do so in an inflamitory manner. If you can't refrain from voicing your oppinions by using phrases as you did, then yes, calm down untill you can play nice.
