I will be finishing up on a mockup of the theme based on the game Simon Extreme for OS X soon and will be emailing the author of the game to see if he will contribute to it's completion as a theme soon after that.

Do you want to see a theme come out of this Games GUI?

Heck Yeah! I'd love a theme based on Simon Extreme. Maybe it could use a different name than SimonX or something.

I hope the graphic designer is open-minded enough to allow you to do something like that

Heh, a hard plastic user interface. I can just hear the playschool jokes now...

If this theme does get made it's got to have things that light up, it's a must! Apple makes a light up keyboard, Mac user makes a light up theme.

Yes, it would make an interesting addition to the theme line up. I don't know if many people would use it as a full time theme but it could be an interesting thing to toss up to suit a mood.

I'm having second thoughts about it unless he emails me a lot of redrawn elements IF he approves the theming. His Widgets (x-+) aren't the correct size and look like crap when scaled, etc. A lot would have to be redrawn and honestly I don't have the time unless he helps out too. We'll see how it goes.

Yep, people always love a choices. I use Aqua most of the time but sometime I'd tempt to try other themes just for the kick. Sometime I'll stick with one theme for several months then return back.

Have you had a look against a Aqua blob out of the Extras.rsrc (copied out into photoshop using Theme park). The .png widgets from Simon Extreme seme to fit over the Aqua widgets nicely (the non window button's and sliders are a different matter, you would definately need input from Simon's UI designer with these). The Textured look may be hard to achive also, the games UI overcomes this by having all the windows etc. as single .png files. Anybody who takes up this challenge deserves help from the Games designer, as it should look fantastic (expecially on 'brushed' apps).

Yes, he addressed alot of my concerns in an email. I'm trying to see if he can re-render several of the elements like the widgets and some of the buttons...

As for the gradient in the UI BG won't be possible in the theme.

That's why I said BASED ON.

I'm currently working on MacQNX again and if I can finish this soon and I get some new widgets from the guy I'll try to get this one out the door as well.
