Duality seems to have Huge Problems, It is a beta atm for jaguar. I cant even get it to load the prefpane much less try to change themes. Just go to VersionTracker and download ThemeChanger and put all your themes in /Library/Themes/ and it will work perfectly with all themes. Havent had a problem yet.

Yea I tried ThemeChanger first, but it doesn't work for some reason. I just get the spinning rainbow and nothing. Also, it doesn't read BBX, which I just downloaded.

Welcome to the wonderful wiggly world of system unsupported hacking! I have identical installs of Duality and other system components/versions on both my laptop and desktop - the lapop will switch without problems, but the deskop install of Duality has always given me problems (no number of reinstalls or troubleshooting has ever helped)... however, I am able to force-quit Duality once it hangs and relaunch the Finder manually and the switch has actually gone through every time (subsequent Aqua restores still run no problem). Try force-quitting Duality once it hangs, then force-quit the finder to see if the changes have actually taken effect or not... this always works for me

Angus,
Themechanger rocks...
<flamesuit active>
You might consider making some features part of a "pro" version that are unlocked after folks pay their $5 donationware pittance.
Perhaps a "disable whining" radio button would be nice for the "pro" users....

FWIW and no offense to the developers of Duality, every system and OS X install on which I've used any version of Duality..died. Meaning that I had to reformat and reinstall the OS.
It could have been any combination of apps but that commonality stands out in my mind.
The reinstall was usually needed within a few days to a week of switching the theme with Duality.
I've even used the same themes with earlier versions of duality and themechanger and have had no problems (yet ? ) with themechanger.
I don't understand why that would be but that's my experience.
YMMV

No probs here with the Duality pref pane, aside from it not handling some themes (the 10.2 vs. 10.2.3 in the script issue). I've switched themes with it dozens of times, and never had any system mess-ups.
I've also used ThemeChanger for those "stubborn" themes, and no probs with TC either.

Sorry for the delay. I've been having to deal with getting my own website back online.
Regarding Duality I am currently working with other OS X developers on something new. This involves stripping out all of Duality's now old code. I will formally announce all the new stuff soon, and it should address many theme issues currently present, and also address any issues with the upcoming 10.2.4 release. We intend to keep support for current formats the best we can, and will continue to support DLTA. We will add support to these new features to DLTA, and perhaps .theme. Again, more on this soon, but the freezing problems are admited issues that we do have corrected. I do not feel, however, that I should release Duality as it is now. Apple is begining to make changes to themes at a rapid pace, and many 3rd party icon and gui customization programs are being introduced. Obviously, resource switching, although a new system, is not good enough to overcome these problems.
Basically, rumors of my death have been greatly exagerated. I have taken some personal time away from Duality, delt with my server people, and am currently working on a new theme project connected to Duality. I don't think its unreasonable that anyone should look at a temporary alternative to Duality right now, but the reason we aren't fixing the problems now is that I want them fixed right.
(Forgive me for any spelling mistakes)

I know that the HIToolbox may have been changed in 10.2.4. I will have more info on if this affects the Extra.rsrc file on Friday.

Hey Swiz,
If you liked Vanilla Sky, check out the original in Spanish "Open Your Eyes". I'm not a Spanish speaker but I think it was way better. Penelope Cruz was in that one too IIRC...

You'll have more luck finding it under the Spanish title "Abre los ojos".
