Heyo! Does anybody know of a freeware program, or theme that will let me make double-clicking on the titlebar cause the window to rollup or shade? (i.e. you only see the titlebar?) I loved this feature in linux, and even in windows xp via windowblinds.

Or how about in OS 9, where it first originated?

errr windowshade x looks to be SHAREWARE.
is it actually freeware but you have to pay for extra options? i'm not paying $10 just to have a rollup option, its something so simple and free on every other OS i've ever used.

yeah but its easy to crack things on windows, just go to www.astalavista.com and download whatever you need. it doesn't seem that way on macs. Anyway, windowblinds offers far more than stupid windowshade x

Well WindowShadeX doesn't only shade windows. And if Apple got rid of it in OS X it's for a good reason. Sorry you're having a tough time pirating software .

The reason Windowshade isn't a part of OS X is because it doesn't fit the Aqua GUI specifications. Minimization to the dock is what aqua does. The dock is central to organization in OS X so minimization is really important. Windowshading would be the opposite of the minimization and confuse users. That's why I don't use it.

Sorry but Mac Community doesn't work in that way. Mac users usually support a software that they think deserve it. It's called loyalty which is seriously lacking in Windows Community (is there even one?)
Windows user are like roach stealing all of the foods and left without paying. Lame

I think the only windows community out there is the windows warez community. a la neowin.net (ok, well "beta")
Windows user are like roach stealing all of the foods and left without paying. Lame
I already reported the post. It has no place here. I suggest you do the same

You don't believe this do you? I'm sure that there are just as many Mac pirates as there are Windows pirates (when you adjust for market share of course).
I don't know how you could type that with a straight face. What happened when Apple went from iTools to .Mac? They complained about paying.
What happens when Apple says a Mac OS X upgrade will be $129? Mac users complain again, say they're being cheated. Say they've been loyal to the company and "deserve to be treated better".
What happened when there was talk of iLife being a for pay bundle only? ($50, 4 apps) they got all upset.
Now, if they're going to bitch about paying the equivalent of ~$12 for iMovie 3 then they should be pissed about paying $10 to minimize/make transparent a fricking window.
In general, I notice that to be a major failing in the Mac development community. Everybody seems to be out to make a buck on the littlest things.
Charge to change icons, charge to minimize windows, charge to change themes, charge for a little dock/launcher, etc. Then there are those who just create front ends to things built into the OS, apps like Brick House and Firewalk.
Hell, the Mac has even spawned "Open OS X" or whoever they are who take Open Source apps, package them up in Installer.app, burn it to a CD and charge people $30. Unless their images are available for free download what they're doing is just wrong, IMO.
There is free stuff available but I think there is far less freeware on the Mac than for Windows.
I mean, there's an entire MS compatible Office suite for Windows that's completely free and I'm not talking Star Office.
We Mac users have finally gotten a break with OS X's Unix underpinnings and the resulting ports of OS software but it doesn't seem the Unix spirit of free software and sharing has caught on with the Mac devs and that's really a shame seeing as Cocoa offers so much potential for creating powerful apps rather easily.
I like that ImageWell app as an example, it's useful, does neat things, is tiny and is completely free. We need more devs who think like that coding for the Mac.
I'm not against for pay software provided it does more that something stupidly basic.
Sorry for ranting but this is a subject that has bothered me for a long time and your post just brought it all up to the surface of my mind.

i'm sorry but i'm not going to pay $10 for the rollup option, something that there should be a freeware app for(and are many in windows btw), and something that should have been at least an option in OSX out of the box anyway. i do like my new powerbook, but i hope i never become an apple fanboy like most of the posters on this forum.

Not all pirates think alike. There are some friendly pirates and some mindless pirates who think that all software should be free. Most pirates on Mac platform usually are the friendly type. I don't think I should go deeper in this because almost everyone know what I'm talking about.

Huh? That is totally off the point. Software and Hosting is two completely different thing. I don't know how you could type that with a straight face either

Again, that is totally off the point. Shareware and OS are not the same thing.

It's just a rumor. People got upset by the rumor sites saying that Apple may go Intel doesn't mean the story will be true. Learn to weed out rumors next time.

Nonsense.

Obviously you haven't monitored the Windows development community closely. You seem to have zero business experience.

Nonsense. Ever heard of GPL?

I'm really surprised that you said that. I think that is completely untrue. We're getting LOT of freeware because of: Free Mac Development Tools, UNIX, Linux, JavaScript, AppleScript, and many more. Please find some information to back you up next time.

How is this related to the topic we are on now?

Nonsense. OmniGroup will really disagree with you on this.

You really don't know what you are talking about. You should spend one full month browsing around www.versiontracker.com as you seem to be realllllly behind on the Mac development community.

WindowShade X is not something stupidly basic. Again, you don't know what you are talking about. Learn some programming first before making a stupid statement like that.

I really hope that you won't rant again in the future. Your post is one of the worst nonsense I've seen. It's disgusting that you didn't include any informations or evidences to back you up.
A big from me

What's wrong with you, you have to pay for things you like, it's the same in the real world. But what do you know you probably pirate software like crazy and download illegal DiVX's and MP3's with Kazaa all day...
Stop complaining if you can't live without this pay for it ( it's only 10$ that's almost free or certainly not worth all this complaining ) otherwise live with it...

LOCKED!!!
Sorry buddy but we don't condone stealing software or people that whine and cry about it.
Go find a board that DOES and ask around there...
bye bye now.
