All wood and brass and green leather, that's what I want. I suppose I could make one myself, but seeing as I'm too friggin lazy to even create a mock-up, it'd prolly take me a year.
Anyone with time and talent care to embark on such an endeavour, I'd really appreciate it. Arrrrr!

Never liked green leather or green leather in combination with wood, reminds me of the interior of an aston martin...

And that's a bad thing, how???
I think he is thinking of a much darker green then that anyway. Sort of like an old office desk.

The standout features of Leather & Wood are the continual subtle diferences in texture, the way OSX draws the Gui any theme like this would be very dificult to 'pull off' sucessfuly.

Am I the only one who never saw it (the retro naval theme)? I really have no idea of what you are talking about.

Although I love the old naval/pirate thing, I'd prefer an old navy destroyer theme - light green boilerplate with rivets, stenciled white paint and streaks of rust... maybe even lifesaver alert icons, ship-to-shore radio antenae for internet icons, etc...

Honestly, wood would be entirely do-able in OSX, but I've never really seen a realistic-looking wood theme/scheme over the years. I'd imagine something vaguely nautical/Myst-like with exotic woods, brass/copper, precious stones and clockwork gears could be very cool though.

There were so many hideous Kaleidoscope schemes. I wonder why that happened? I mean, 80% of them were just purely crap and I don't even think the creators could have used them.

I suppose the second one comes closest to what I had in mind.

(Think I'll make a mock-up, after all.)

Speaking about kaledoscope...
Does anyone remember the kaledioscope theme called Co-Pilot? That is a theme I'd like to see ported to X. Modifications would need to be made--but that is the one and only theme I could see ported from Classic to X...

Wood and green? Yuck.

BTW - Some of those old k-2 schemes were hideous.

The Co-Pilot scheme was great... Would be awesome to have it as a theme in OS X, but as I understand, it's not cool to submit theme ideas around here if you're not planning on making it yourself

Cheers!!!

FB Eye, to each his own. the only thing i do not like about big themes like that, is that there is a lot of screen estate that is lost to the fat borders around each window.

p.s. you watch Ali G at all?

I agree with you mdc, these schemes wasted lots of useful screen space, but looked really nice... in OS X we wouldn't have that problem because of the border-less windows and the limited height of the titlebars...

A theme "inspired" by Co-Pilot would still be cool... as well as one "inspired" by Crux (see other thread)

Geez, why do I keep making these suggestions? My bad, sorry

The stuff that made Co-pilot what it was wouldn't work in OSX... it was inspired by the look&feel of a Palm Pilot, so buttons are at the bottom of widows, etc. It is a pretty fat K2 scheme, but it's also one of the more polished ones.

True - but there were also some highly polished schemes that rival any of the stuff being done today as well. It's true that finding the good stuff ain't easy with so much crap to wade through, but it's in there somewhere.

The reason there was so much crap spit out (some schemers were pumping out one a week) was because building Kaleidoscope schemes was so easy - a thousand times easier than skinning OSX. I really miss the ability to shuffle and resize the layouts (not to mentions borders, sides, pressed scrollthumb states, etc)... let's hope a Kaleidoscope-like hack comes to OSX some day.
