Isn't this a Carbon/cocoa limitation issue? I think text colours are pretty much hard-coded and difficult to change throughout.

Yes..could be.. As a test I changed all the colors (in red) in the extra.rsrc/clr#/(384). The result is really strange.. basically half of the interface is responding (mostly inactive text elements)...The other half..still black. I could change the text color in the menus, window titles but not in the tabs or in certain push buttons...It's like the other elements color are buried somewhere else...

Most text colors are only honored by Carbon apps. This is what you're seeing.

Keep looking for the secret. If you find it you will be famous as the person who solved the problem that no themer on earth has solved yet!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

The answer is that carbon apps hard code the text color into the program instead of using system wide colors. It isn't a secret, there is no way to get around it unless you where to change every hard coded carbon app.

Other way around, Mike. Carbon apps get it right; Cocoa ones don't. And it's not hardcoded into every app, it's hardcoded into the Cocoa framework itself... so all Apple would have to do is change the framework, and all would be well with the world...
