What do you think of it? Were gonna make a new iFix, but we are arguing about the slider.

This is how the original look and the edit looks:

Which do you prefer?

If the original slider is popular, I'm considering changing the slider to that style for the next Brushed update.

I personally think that the high-tech slider looks cooler, but the Aqua slider would fit in better with the other GUI elements. A bit of a toss-up.

At first I didn't like the new iTunes slider, but now that I've gotten used to it I think i like it better.

I personally like the new one Apple put in there myself. But I also like the little Aqua one. If I had to pick one, though, I'd go with the hi-tech lookin' one.

Ok, cool. If the hightech one is more popular, maybe we should go the other way and change the sliders in other apps for consistency.

Bah! How is that new one considered hi-tech? Personally, I dislike the boring gray plastic Quicktime-style controls (including the new iTunes volume slider - talk about bad ergonomics, it's tiny and hard to see and it's one of the controls you're most likely to access frequently) - I think the new FinalCut-style flat white inset glass is the best marriage with Apple's brushed metal (like in the iFix DVD player, yo). If I had to choose between graphite aqua and the new one, I'd choose the graphite (although I seem to be the only one who feels that way).

I like the metal looking one, but why does it have a dot? If it's to show that it's a slider, well... what other function would a widget on a track have.

In iTunes 4, when you click on it, the dot "lights up" as a blue light. Sort of like what the Aqua slider does, but surrounded by metal.

Either way, but the high tech slider fits the brushed look better.

Widgets. They're going to make blue widgets to match the blue SS theme, and I imagine that they'll also come out with a traffic light widget fix, since Max's traffic light widgets are different from the normal Apple ones (and much better than Apple's, I must add!).

Personnaly I think U guys have way too much time to think about this stuff. The new slider is cool. Just having the blue light is cool.. Why ask what it does.. It's cool that's all.

Rene saw that we all liked it but he (or she) still has to change it... haha...

"I think the dot is pointless"

Obviously you can't see the irony in this statement. The dot is good, the dot is great. Leave the dot alone, stop the abuse. Don't you have better things in your life except to think about a little dot all day?

Lots of stuff in OSX is pointless (just be thankful you don't have to look at the sea of pointlessness that is Windows)... but I think the thumb without the dot is even more pointless than the one with it (which in itself was pointless - er, yeah). I just think the new thumb (is it really called hi-tech?) is a step backwards style-wise from the Aqua-fied one. At least Aqua's elements are made out of a cool virtual material (jelly/glass/lucite) as opposed to the 'Quicktime-ish' flat gray boring plastic (like trying to simulate the putty-colored plastic of the connector on the back of a washing machine).
