I think it's pointless to get bent over a little dot. Stick to Apple's designs rather than redesigning them.

if we would not have been redesigning stuff,
Max never would have come up with the
greatlooking (and nicer) Smoothstripes
theme with the way cooler traffic buttons

if its pointless to u thats okee, doesnt mean
it has to be to others

offcourse its fussy , thats stupid dot is driving
me crazy too LOL

thnx bro!

Personally, I think the slider track is too fat or the slider button is too small. Any way of making the slider track thinner? And I'd say keep the dot, the button looks naked without it.Thanks for "iFixing" Apple DVD Player.

Your new version is too bulbous. It looks like a pearl on a slider, which is weird, I don't like it.

Apple's version looks flatter & mechicanical (which it should), the dot is an impression for the finger when using the slider, it helps you grip it - friction. It could also be a mark left by the post that connects the thumb grip to the slider track. Doesn't seem entirely pointless to me. I could see it being on a real device and that's what the interface is trying to emulate.

Though truthfully I'm not in love with either version, yours or Apples, it could be done better.

Rene, I thought I would like this version the best; halfway between the old glass blob and the new, initially annoying, dotted metal disk.

However, after seeing the screenshot of iFix©3.01, I realise I have come to prefer the little dot. It looks purty.

So, although I thought I would be coming here to say no to the dot, I now say yes.

You could maybe offer both for download, thereby appeasing both camps? Sorry, I know that's not a solution.

Ditto. I initially didn't like the dot, but I've grown more and more accustomed to it... it looks like something you could use your fingers to move it with, versus the Aqua slider, which would be akward to use IRL. Maybe I'm just talking my ___ off, but that's how I'm looking at it right now.

That's also what I was thinking... variations. Of course, there's already going to be two variations due to the traffic light and blue widget schemes, so I dunno if Rene and Max would want to be doing even more variations...

I too prefer the iTunes dot. I DLed iFix 3.01 just for that little dot. Thanks for working with Max on these iFixes, they are great.

Any way we could get a VLC iFix from you guys?

I second the VLC fix but only because it looks like a mess of vomit with any kind of non-Aqua theme applied...

We are going with the dot.

Our first reaction was - let's go back to the Aqua one. But after I posted the poll I see that many people have come to like the new slider, as have I.
And since Apple changed the resources in iTunes, it's not possible to have both blue and graphite resources, they are both the same.

I should have posted the dot less slider in the poll too, but I honestly didn't like it - sorry Rene.

As for calling it 'high tech', maybe it's not, maybe it's just 'tech'. It's more tech than Aqua anyway.

So what we'll do is that we will use the tech slider in the other brushed iFixes, so that we bring some kind of consistency to them.

The new iFixes for QT and iTunes should be out by next week.

We have other iFixes planned and we could do VLC, but we got a better idea first.

good that so many people already found
iFix©3.0.1!!!
I just released it yesterday!

but mind you, the sliderdot WILL be blue
in all color variations in each iFix©
wether for graphite or Aqua, coz thats
the way it is with iTunes too.

I am still ambigiuous about the dot, but
if its in all the iFixes, ie iTunes, Quicktime
and DVD player its not bad

however if ANYONE likes the metal
slider without dot, u can find my
email on Happicon

what is VLC?

wreks sais: Though truthfully I'm not in love with either version, yours or Apples, it could be done better.

oke wreks, i am waiting! LOL

VLC is a great media player that you can find at www.videolan.org. It handles all the media files that QT can't, from divx to windows media. As you can see from the screens on the site the interface is hideous and could benefit greatly from your iFixes.

I'm not sure how much of it you can theme, if you could change the groove or not, but that part looks off to me. I don't see how the knob could actually slide in it.. maybe roll, but not slide, it looks more like a groove or gutter than a track. Seems there should be a slot down the middle and a highlight on the top edge of the bottom half (rather than just a gradiant). Of if it's just a hole/straight slot It should have more depth. For a good reference you see that type of slider on mixing boards.

I'm not obsessive enough to do anything about it, but kudos to you. And I hope I don't sound arrogant, I'm just being mater of fact.

The slider with the dot doesn't look like the other control buttons though, it clashes with the rest of the interface.
