love it or hate it...i don't care...this is the first theme i started months ago...still not finished...working on about 5 others...can't stay focused on one for very long...these others are more difficult and very tedious...

for those not familiar with apples ''golden delicious'' is a very tasty variety...

everything is 100% stolen by me from apple...i'm quite capable of removing stripes...that was the easy part...

I love it I love it! Beautiful... I couldn't work in it (color perception and what have you) but I'd sure play in it =) So bold, so warm, so fun... like lego sex plastic. Beautiful...

Looks cool! At least there's no blue. I think if you're going to name it after the apple it should look more like this though :-]

Yeah, yellow Lego sex plastic thing aside, it really must be said that (although I like it, yes I do) I wish there were more themes that were 100% original and completely devoid of Apple-created-influenced-originated stuff (sadly there really are few).

But, to play Devil's Advocate here -really, how different is this from Smoothstripes [[ Max must think I single him out whenever this stuff comes up because i always cite his themes as examples - sorry Max, but the're just the most popular Apple-ish themes going so they get picked by default ]] or the other 'Aquafied' themes that enjoy so much popularity and acceptance? Smoothstripes is Aqua sans stripes. What this guy did is Aqua done in yellow. In each case, much of the theme's very being and recognizability is lifted directly from the Apple's artists' own pixels. I think if you're going to accept one, you have to accept the other. It really is a fine line.

You could argue the fact that Max's works (to cite an example - damn somebody give me a better example before Max gets mad) require some level of reimagining beyond mere color-shifting because he's playing out styles across parts of the system where those styles didn't necessarily originally live, and therefore he must create a certain amount of 'original' elements along the way. I am likely to think that Apple would be more likely to take offense, as it were, with a simple color change and redistribute scheme than a reimagine-for-the-fans and redistribute scheme. They may see Max's work as evangilism to some degree... I don't think they'd necessarily see a color shift in the same light. But who knows, it's all academic at this stage... I really don't think they care either way.

Yeah if you want to get technical about the 'apple realism' I suppose, but his is more attractive, no offense. Maybe Golden Delicious isn't the name - maybe it should be something 'sunny'. Reminds me of my favourite system 9 theme, 'poppy'. I love me that orange =P � � � �

I'm not going to argue about what constitutes a theme, because I'm writing a 3-page essay on transgenic salmon right now, so I'm absolutely braindead. However, I will say that I agree with mrtew in that golden delicious apples are colored more like his quick mockup than that orange-yellow. In fact, I'd think that that color would make the theme more fitting to be called, "Orange".

(As in the fruit and the color!)

Aqua variations really suck. Really. I'm not saying your theme has to be 0% Aqua right away but it would be nice if it was more than a hue change.
