Hi, I have a bit of a problem. I tried to change the default harddrive icon for the "Macintosh HD" but to no avail.

I tried the various ways such as the apple-I and copy&paste the icon, but none seems to work. I've also tried to use tools to open the resource files and change it there, but nothing there either.

Anyone know what else I can do?

thx much for all ur help..

If that doesnt work, enable root and login as root.. Works for me.. Repair permissions hasn't fixed the issue for me so far.

Unfortunately neither method seems to work for me.

I basically ctrl-c the icon I wanted to use, bring up the info window for the "Mac HD", select the HD icon in that window, and ctrl-v.

Is that the right method?

When I select the icon in the Info window, I don't even see Paste as an option in the Edit menu.

I must be doing something really stupid...

thx for all ur help btw, I really appreciate that.

You mentioned that you are using ctrl + c to copy, thats the windows shortcut.

Make sure you are using cmd + c.
