Heh, you beat me to the punch.

Down with Aqua! ThemePark lets you give your computer a style of its own.

Use ThemePark to create or modify the way Mac OS X looks, as well as to change the appearance of individual applications. Just draw titlebars, buttons, and other widgets in the graphics editor of your choice, and paste them into ThemePark to create a new theme or modify an existing one.

With ThemePark, you can:
  • Create new themes simply by pasting in your own graphics;
  • Merge your theme with an existing one to use it as a base or to make small tweaks to someone else's theme;
  • Quickly preview your theme while you're constructing it;
  • Easily find the element you're looking for using ThemePark's smart organization, filtering, and inline hints;
  • Choose a way of organizing your theme elements that's right for you;
  • Save in-progress themes and easily see which areas you've already modified;
  • Edit resource files found inside of many applications;
  • Export your themes in 'dlta' or 'xscheme' format to share with the rest of the world.

Grab it now.
Take a tour.

Sucky thing is, Panther will probably have a new theme layout or a new file all together from what I have heard.

... and Prometheus decends from the heavens bearing in hand the gift of fire, endowing mortal man with the seething power of the gods ...

Thanks man - great job! Great app - the attention to detail and the needs of those of us crazy enough to take on theming is unbelievable. I just made you $20 richer (and really, considering the amount of time involved and the very few people who'll actually use ThemePark given the complexity of developing a theme, you could have charged $40-$50 easily). Can't thank you enough. I'd make a theme in your honor, but somehow I don't think BBX GeekSpiff has a futuristic ring to it - I'll just have to thank you profusely in the READ MEs.

How about BBX Dace or BBX Silver Dace?

It would be ironic though, now that Themepark is finally out Apple introduces a new themeing format for OS X.

Im in the process of making the actions and instructions for all the other Cocoa to Carbon conversions right now.

When I have a free moment im going to run through Max's and if they are as easy to use as they seem at first glance I will probably just remove mine and suggest his.

Great job on ThemePark smeger! I have one question; I already have an extras.rsrc that I have been working on, how can I import that into a full new theme?

Apply the theme, go to themepark and make a new theme, and mark everything as modified.

Too bad we did not get on iChat so we did not have to spend time making a set of actions each

I'd love it if you would help me evolve the Theme Template. I'm not sure how well done my actions are and it would be really cool if you would go trough them and perhaps improve them further.

What's this talk about a new theme format? Even if there is a new format in 10.3, I don't think that it will be too much trouble updating Themepark for it.

One question:
If Apple changes the theme files in Panther and themeparl requiers a update, will you get a free update if you already bought it??

I should have some time this evening to jump into the actions, I will email you with any suggestions I may have.

If you mean helping out with comments and explanations for the pxm resources in the template, Im all for it. I'll email ya so we can figure out how we will divide resources to save time getting them all tended to.

If so, I'll update Theme Fur. So, don't let that stop you!

  • Launch ThemePark
  • Select ThemePark Help from the Help menu
  • Read the section titled Using ThemePark To Modify An Existing Theme

You can follow the procedure above, or cntrl-click the dlta and open the *.rsrc file inside of it.

I won't guarantee that I'll never charge an upgrade fee (although I don't expect that I ever will). But I will guarantee that if I ever do, it will only be for really significant new functionality, not just because Apple tweaked some file formats. And if I ever do charge, it won't be often.

But I don't have any particular plans to ever charge for upgrades, I just don't want to promise that I won't do it.

-------------

Max and Swiz, I think it'd be great if you guys collaborated on actions and templates. Also, the "Goodies" folder is open to submissions, and it's possible to make/customize your own theme template files. If you're interested in doing this, open a tpark file in Property List Editor or BBEdit and dig around. I'll write up a HowTo if there's enough interest.

Last but not least, ThemePark 1.0 has a bug in the Theme Preview functionality. Only modifications that you've made since opening your theme will be displayed in the previews - prior modifications won't show. I'll have a 1.01 release out next week that fixes this. This bug isn't harmful - it won't hurt to use the Preview functionality, it just won't show you your saved changes. Just FYI...

Cool, when I get some time I'll try and make a theme without Mike's help, I'm sure this will help too. Maybe I'll start with an update of Dark Glass...

I found one more bug!

If there is a long list of pics (like Scorll Thumb Caps) and you scroll down to paste an image, the scroll jumps to the top, super annoying.

Wow you even made apple.com OS X downloads page! http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...themepark.html I wonder if that means anything about Apple supporting themes with Panther?

It's because you're editing a .rsrc file, which could be any arbitrary .rsrc file, not necessarily an Extras.rsrc. See the help section I mentioned above about using ThemePark to modify an existing theme. You need to be using a .tpark file for the Theme Preview stuff to be available (as well as most of the cool features of ThemePark).

P.S. I've fixed the scrolling bug and one that kept custom boot panels from displaying properly. These will also be in 1.01 next week.

NO, I am not pasting one file at a time =P
But I was pasting just one file to check some stuff and found the bug.

Good smeger =) Keep the good work up =)
If I can come up with a nice theme idea I think I will buy it =)
