Howdy Themehedz!

ThemePark 1.0.1 is out. Here's what's new:
  • Theme Preview now previews all elements properly, not just those that have been changed since the theme was opened.
  • Modifying a boot panel now works properly (it now saves it as a PDF, before it was saving a TIFF).
  • Pasting into a pxm# editor that has been scrolled no longer resets the scroll position.
  • Added support for 'PNG ' resources as used in Panther's Finder.
  • Fixed a problem with display of "rsrc" files under Panther Developer Preview 1.

Anyway, it seems that there has been a bit (!!!) of consternation about theming under Panther. So, here's the official Geekspiff take on it:

Just as Geekspiff released Theme Fur, allowing people to easily migrate their themes from 10.1 to 10.2 last year, we'll make absolutely sure that there's an upgrade path in place before or shortly after Panther is released. I think I can safely say that it'll allow a Jaguar theme to look acceptable in Panther just by running it through the converter, with no manual redrawing of elements necessary. Of course, things'll look nicer with a manual redraw, but Geekspiff is committed to making sure that this transition does not require developers to redraw their themes.

There are two issues present in the developer release of Panther that, if present in the final release, will make theming more difficult - the Finder uses a non-standard metal texture, and some windows use a hard-coded shadow. Without going into any more detail at this time, I can assure theme developers that this will not be a problem once Panther is released to the public.

So, enjoy the new ThemePark build, chill about Panther, and crank out the interface beauty!
Geekspiff - generating spiffdiddlee software since before you began paying attention.

Thank god! Everyone was going on about themeing being dead under Panther... I'm glad to hear you don't think so, and that there will be a way to port old themes. Thanks for your hard work.
