While I really don't have to time, nor do I want to even start, I think someone should do a "World Of Tron" theme.

How hard could it be?

Maybe snow white colored with blue accents? Or vice versa.

Some blue and white "bullseye" type designs. circuit board traces, etc.

What do you guys think?

Should someone give XP users another theme to rip off?

Greetings, program! - Your Sig is from Proverb 15:15 - You are a religious fruit.

- I bet you feel a little like Tron - always thinking about that mystical user in the sky !

Is that also why you would like someone else to make the theme for you ?

At least try to stay on topic. It should have read "Great! Another religious nut!"

Yeah I am too, I doubt I would use the theme, I would just like to see it made.

If no one else wants to, I might throw something together,

A 'true' TRON theme would be black with red and/or blue circuits. While it's a good idea, I don't think it could be done properly right now for a number of reasons - black would be nice - colored text would be nice - PPATs (circuit boards, etc) are not handled nicely by the system and would get chopped off, tiled wierd, etc... I did some experiments a while back with a circuit texture and got some really bizarre results. I'd be interested in seeing it attempted, tho'.

You hate everything with a passion, and you're never gonna come out with a theme...you're too lazy and you are all smoke but no fire.

Why Black? The people themselves were white with blue traces (They were actually black, but with Hollywood magic..)

He was talking about the Tron theme wasn't he? Your post was just a personal attack.

If you are annoyed by his remarks. PVT message him.

It was my thread, my idea, and it didn't annoy me. Why should it you?

No, nevermind, don't answer that. Don't reply to the thread unless it's about a Tron theme.

And do it with a smile.

And after the effects treatment the white looked pale grey, which IMO would look quite nice

You could even use blue and red for the blue/graphite variations.

Blue version

Graphite version

Some wise words for potential themers to chew over - or not.

"What we've created has a completely new look. It's not an imitation of anything, and it's not often that you get to say that as an artist."

Jerry Rees (Computer image choreographer/ production storyboards/visual effects supervisor for TRON)

...and of course to finish a pic of jerry, or is it pluto...

I am guessing you are suggesting that making a Tron theme wouldn't be very original.

While the "images" or "design" would be based on the World of Tron, the design, and outcome would be 100% original.

And people would eat it up if done right.

I've had this idea since the Kal days.

I just think there are other themers out there better than I, that have the time and patience to put such a effort into a theme.

i'm thinking pale grey with fluorescent blue (as in shinobi} and the flying disks give many ideas for the widgets...could be a very useable theme...keep it simple and tight...hmmm?

i'd give it a whack but i got about 30 unfinished themes in the dead theme folder...i start to give up when i get to the unending cut up bits and pieces crap...

D'oh... well what do you know? They are wearing white (been yeeeeaaaarrrrssss since I've seen Tron). Well, it would still be hard to do without non-black text

You have a dead themes folder too? Mine's huge! But I like the idea of this theme, hope it gets made.

I would think it would work like SimpleAqua, just added blue stuff. And different widgets. Black text would work.

If you could do it you'd want to use that toned-down-almost-graphite color but with electric blue. Make it look segmented like sectional body armor and throw in some of that electric purple if (big if) it fit in.

Might actually be a nice theme if done right but the scale would drive me insane. I'll post a mockup of my thoughts later.

Hehe - when you're at this stuff for a while you eventually end up with hundreds of unresolved designs... the BBX dead theme folder is hovering at around 6 gigs by now. I have a tendency to dupe layouts whenever I hit upon a new variant (so I can always go back and compare) and then I end up with dozens of slight variations for the same design. It's a brutal sickness.

Will post my mockup in a bit... is there any way to make the titlebars a bit taller? In the old days there was a resource with the title/menubar height and a few others. Last time I checked it was still in OS X.

Here's a quick 15 min job. Simple but basically just want to show the white and red concept. Swap for blue for
the graphite I'd assume is the best way to do it.

Its a bit hard trying to balance it out while still making it usable. One big problem is I want more detail than is practical... like right now the text will look out of place on my titlebars

You can simply increase the height of the PXM, but the drawbacks are a perceived shift in text placement and widget alignment. Also, the extra pixels will 'pop in and out' in cocoa apps as well (not a problem if you use Metalfizer to turn all cocoa windows into metal). I've done this with height increases of a pixel or two, might not work so well if you want to increase beyond that.

Quite nice, but I think the circuitry needs to glow if it's to be a Tron theme. I had a play around yesterday just seeing if glowing widgets would work and came up with this (and yes, I'm fully aware that the proportions are all wrong - I did it more for the glow than for accuracy).

Okay, I got together some mockups. Wasn't easy but I think it looks fairly good. Let me know what you think needs changing and which one is best:

That looks neat..

I think the lines show be more like circtuit board traces though.

Maybe some "Bullsey" type artwork for the buttons (Think of the disks)

I'd say the first one, although they all look more Tron 2.0 than classic Tron to me.

Yeah, thats what I'm aiming for.

Any ideas for the ppat's? I wouldn't really have tried this on my own (not a huge tron fan) but if other people like it I'll go through with it. I have enough time between stuff.
