I believe this is what is generally referred to as "getting back to basics".
I always liked that look though... especially when I first came up with it on my Mac II's portrait display monitor shortly after forcing it to display a whopping four shades of gray (dark, darker, white, and black). Brings back memories.

Nice... but I find that I can hardly see the "holes" when I'm using my iBook (1024x768 res).
Maybe they could be a little bigger? Just my humble opinion.
