A theme preview app would involve coding a themechanger for Panth.

And since Panth is beta and anything could change in the next build, you'll prolly never see one until what, late December.

Not REALLY, I'm not sure, but I know Smeger has a way around applying the theme to preview it as it's able to do so in ThemePark.

Might wanna talk to him.

Swap the Extras.rsrc, any apps that are opened afterwards use the new file.

No reason why any old theme preview app won't work in panther. Just toss one together in IB while in panther.

I just want to use it for screenshot of the theme I am using at the moment.

Themechecker is sort of out of date.

What "old theme preview app" are you referring to?

well he prolly swaps Extras.rsrc during the launch of a theme preview tool.

Otherwise, he has to do some major hax0ring with Apple's private Theme classes.

The theme preview functionality in ThemePark is using Unsanity's APE (statically linked so you don't need to install it) to preview the theme without making any changes to the filesystem.

Once Unsanity certifies APE for Panther, I'll update ThemePark and it'll "just work" again.

That said, you can whip up your own preview app in Interface Builder pretty easily without any specialized knowledge. Just drag and drop your UI elements and hit cmd-R to run. You'll need to manually install your Extras.rsrc to see your new theme, though. If you're not comfortable with this, I recommend you wait 'till Panther is released to the public.

If you just want to take a picture for the theme you are using, you could use AppearanceSample from the Developer tools, or Interface Builder if you want a custom look.

Can someone please post Appearance Sample so I don't have to download and install 300MB of tools just for a sampler. Thanks!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Don't tell me that it's illegal to post freeware now. Geez. Apple gives away the whole toolset for free, I just want someone to save them and me the trouble of the whole 300mb download. Please tell me you are being sarcastic.

I'm 90% sure it's illegal..

You cannot redistribute Apple Software like that. And plus, you're not distributing the whole package. So ya it is. Sorry

But I'm not a police, so go ahead, I just wanted to warn Zimph of the imminent crime he could commit.
