The Apple menu and widgets are farkin' awesome ... I'm not too hot about the buttons though. I think it might look fine with just the Apple menu, widgets, and progressbars modified.
[edit]: In fact, even if you just made the Apple menu and progressbars, that would be great, since it would be like a new version of the "Green" variant of SS Studio Pro. (Don't bother with the menu highlights, since IMO they look ugly in anything other than the gray stuff).

I really admire the amnesty thing going on with max's : 'User Modded Themes' forum section.
having a place for user theme hacks to be shown - feels like a good idea -
and I commend him for not being so 'precious' and very generous with his creations.
http://homepage.mac.com/max_08/index.htm in the - forum / 'User Modded Themes'.

I really don't understand the aesthetic of combining brightly colored cheap plastic bits with slick classy artificial metal alloys, but once Apple unleashed this design combo on the world with iTunes and Quicktime for OSX it somehow caught on. I don't care for it that much, but I've showed it to a couple people including my roommate that are DYING for this theme. At least there isn't any blue! I think you and Swiz should release it.

Tewksbury your a pro - would only take you about
an hour or so to change the 'Localized.rsrc' and a
few Extras buttons - only a change of color - not
like your re-inventing the car wheel :)

Come'on lets see what's under that famous hood of yours...

CatSunk... Sorry, I don't get the snide comments or the silly picture at ALL, but I think your main point is lost on me also. I've spent a couple of years now making my theme but I like trying out almost every other theme that comes out too. I suppose when someone shows a preview of a theme they are working on I could spend a few hours/weeks trying to make my own version, but I'd rather just encourage them to release it! P.S. Round has worked fine for thousands of years now.... why change now?
Dace... Are you going to release it? Huh? Huh? And what happened to the preview? Did you withdraw it? Or did you finally just cancel your .mac account?

The preview isn't on my .Mac account.
I haven't made the theme yet, I wanted to see what Swiz had to say first. Now that I have his approval I'll go ahead and make it...should only take an hour or two. Expect a release by tuesday.

That's ok. I've released it several times in the past... in fact Titanium 1.0 was one of the the first OSX themes, and I think maybe the very first one that wasn't an 'variation' of Aqua. It used to look really crappy though. How's your theme coming by the way? :-]

Tewksbury -I've still plenty of time - I heard it takes a couple of years
to get it right - till that day I'll just hack and learn from
the real theme artist's like you've been trying to do.
Aqua for most of us means 'pinstripes' as much as the
gumdrops - that's why 'SmoothStripes' is so popular
- alotta people feel stripes are ugly - lucky you just
theme for yourself and your own idiosyncratic tastes!
Oink, oink !

I agree with you completely! I never would have had any interest in theming if Aqua hadn't had stripes. I can't believe they are keeping them in Panther. Maybe Ocelot will finally spell the end of the blinding white stripes. They just look uglier when they are next to the new grey titlebars not to mention the brushed windows in Panther. Soooooo scary.
