changing the metal texture...
download texture rsrc
open your selected extras rsrc with themepark and go to pxm 4460 as shown in picture...
make sure the three resources are selected as shown in blue in the pic and paste in the new resources...
when asked if you want to scale other elements...click yes...
select save in the menu...
close up themepark and install your extras rsrc and enjoy your new metal...
check out how apple gets their metal texture and play around a little...you may come up with something cool....

Nice hacks! I especially like the metal texture.
I have nothing to offer, but I hope this thread is successful.

those damn @#$%&*%$# lines!
ever wonder about those lines in os x?... sure you have...why are they there, why do we hate them, what can we do about them and where the heck are they anyways?
why are they there?
this is just my reasoning...i believe they are there for two simple reasons:
1/ os x aqua gui has a lot of white empty space and apple used the lines to visually fill that space.
2/ the hoizontal lines were used to fill this space to keep the brain horizontalized (word?) just like the horizon keeps us standing straight up and down. eg. if you were standing on a beach and looked out at the line where the water and sky meet and if it were tilted a bit your brain would become confused and effect you balance and you would probably try and compensate by subconsiously tilting your head.
3/ ok maybe a third... horizontal type looks gross across vertical lines.
why do most of us hate them?
i hate them because i think apple went overboard and made the lines to overwhelming and overbearing. i think the complaints finally got thru to them and they made them less so in panther, they are hardly visable and are more sublimable and therefore less stressful and irritating.
your reasons may differ from mine...
what can we do about them?
use a theme that has no lines...duh!
where are those lines anyway? we don’t need no stinkin’ lines!
to be continued after supper [feed bag]...

I love the lines, makes Aqua look sophisticated and sharp. Sometimes though, I find Aqua too bright...that's when I use my Grey Jaguar theme.
BTW, the lines are mostly located in the Pattern resources of the Extras.rsrc...Themepark places them in the Background category.

i find aqua too bright also...i have very light sensitive eyes...and yes the lines aren't as bothersome to me as the white is darkened...dace, you should consider doing a pantherized version of your grey scheme for jaguar...

i was going show where the line resources are located and try to explain how they can be removed or toned down or even how color can incorperated...
and i will...just wanted to show this first...
there is very little control of the font color in os x...but there is a little...
as shown in the picture we have some control in the menus
eg...with a dark menubar a lighter or white or even color font can be used, all this can be done within 'themepark'.

dark menubar shown is from 'darkglass'

wow, bright huh?
i've been using this application in the utilities folder, stop me if you don't know how to get there.
hint: you have to move your mouse to the finder guy, click on your drive, than search in the utilities folder it.
But gee golly i find out it was the display calibrator. It makes those garsh darn lights tone down. But don't take my word for it...
Hi, I'm ralph. This is the story about the Display Calibrator. It changes all sorts of things in your display. It was like i was inside my house while inside my room.
This is a great application and everyone should give it a hug and a kiss.

Now of course, if you're doing color sensitive work, that will completely **** you up. Thanks anyway though.

I might be starting on a new theme in the next few months, depends on my busy life though.

anyone else have problems with changing the metal texture and it not showing up like its supposed to?
for example i got the new pro plastic theme and the metal texture is different, so i open up a aqua extream theme and post in all the metal textures, but it doesnt look like it supposed too. :/

I'm fine with the 10.2 lines, but perfer the 10.3 lines. Forutantely, the "Aqua Extreme" theme makes 10.2 lines look line 10.3 lines, aong other things.
