I noticed a Limewire icon on macsnaps.com that was just half a lime (rather than Limewire's standard cross-section). Does anyone know where I can find such an icon?

I'm also open to suggestions for other icons - but I'm hell-bent on switching the standard one.

Thanks,
Jason

Aren't you afraid of getting busted by the mUsiC poliCE for downloading all those sweet sweet tunes?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Why do u assume he'll be downloading music?

Limewire Icons (Xicons.com, search for Limewire)

I personally like the Limewire icon from "Unreleased" (the bright one, not the dark one Xicons shows u a sample of)

That's right, some of us just like using sluggish and incredibly buggy java apps prone to frequent disconnects, dropped connections and glacially slow network performance to find free and legal stuff we could probably use a browser to find. Browsers are for pussies.

I should've known that a simple request like this would invite discussion about the morality of using P2P software.

Thanks, Dace, for your helpful answer.

Who's talking morality? How would I know Limewire sucked if I'd never used it

I'm not talking morality either! I love downloading free music, but I am scared to do it anymore because of all those new stories about lawsuits by the music industry. In fact no one said anything about morality except you jers! I was talking about fear of being caught, and BBX was talking about the quality of the app. Quit seeing just what you expect to find and try actually joining in the discussion. So sorry that the first response wasn't just the info you wanted and nothing more, but this is a discussion board afterall, not the library information line.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

I've used Napster, LimeWire, Drumbeat, whatever - but only to sample tunes from albums I've heard about or read about before buying. Napster and its ilk made me spend more money on music than the recording industry ever lost on a thousand downloaders. iTunes Music Store has the right idea, but they don't carry my labels (indie house and jazz) and they're not up and running in Canada yet. I'd never pay $10 a month for the privilege of listening only and pay on top of that for burns... but just like with software (and these Hotline/Caracho sites), you get kids who horde and trade hundreds of thousands of songs they'll probably never even listen to, just so they have something to trade with or for the sense of power it gives them... they get addicted to the process, which is sad.

What the RIAA needs to realize is that they'll never compete with free music with the super-inflated prices they charge... mainstream CD sales have also gone down because people are realizing there are so many options and exciting new genres these days - how many people are going to want to pay $20 for a J-LO or Madonna CD these days? The middle-of-the-road pap they've been saturating the world with for the past 20 years just isn't cutting it anymore.

One thing's for sure, the day they start encrypting my CDs so I can't rip MP3s in iTunes is the day I stop buying - if this is ever implemented on a wide scale, they'll really be shooting themselves in the foot.

Whoa - easy, guys.

Morality wasn't the word I should've used. But you have to admit that I got more than I bargained for with my request. I knew someone would make a comment about the legality of using apps like Limewire.

Truly one of the finest icons ever designed! Probably one of the reasons I used Limewire as long as I did. That icon is a classic... such a perfect visual pun, beautifully rendered... it's great looking and instantly recognizable at any scale. What a gem! Why can't someone do something like that for the Finder? I am so sick of that stupid Mondrian/Piccasso MonaLisa face I can't take it anymore, but I still haven't found anything better.
